Difference Between Thallophyta and Bryophyta

S.NO. THALLOPHYTA BRYOPHYTA
1. Plant body is like a thallus or sac which is not differentiated into leaf, stem and root. Plant body shows leaf-like, stem-like and root-like structure.
2. These plants do not have rhizoids as the body is just sac-like. These plants have rhizoids which perform the function almost similar to roots.
3. These plants do not have vascular system. These plants lake true vascular system.
4. These are mostly aquatic. These are found in water as well as moist surface so these are also called amphibians of plant kingdom.
5. These have unicellular sex organs. These have multicellular sex organs.
6. These do not form an embryo. These form an embryo after fertilization.
7. These do not show alternation of generation. These show an alteration of generation having prominent gametophyte generation.
8. Examples of thallophytes are cynobacteria, algae, lichens and fungi. Examples of bryophytes are liverworts, hornworts and mosses.
